Overview

Reach for Her: Menstrual Health and Dignity was implemented from January to June 2026 by SMART Youth Connekt (SMART Hub), with support from the Youth Challenge Fund Phase 4, in Afadjato South District, Volta Region, Ghana. Through school-based education, community dialogues, sanitary pad distribution, and the establishment of three Dignity Banks in Liati Teikrom, Nyagbo Odumase, and Nyagbo Gagbafe, it promoted menstrual health management and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The project reached 395 people, including 214 females and 181 males, exceeding its target of 250 participants by 58%. It improved adolescents’ knowledge of menstrual hygiene and SRHR, strengthened community support for menstrual health discussions, and helped girls manage their periods with greater confidence while improving access to sanitary products. Community engagement and an assessment of the Government Free Sanitary Pad Programme contributed to raising awareness, addressing menstrual stigma, and promoting a more supportive environment for menstrual dignity and adolescent well-being.
